Why work with the BCT Consortium?

BCT works with your business to create the training package that suits you best. If you have a small business with no formal training programme, the Consortium will help you to create one. If you are from a large company with existing training schemes and providers, BCT will work with all your partners to make sure your training meets your business objectives, brings maximum returns for your workforce, and is better funded.

What are the types of programmes available to employees?

Various forms of learning are offered by the partners of BCT – e2e, Apprenticeships and NVQ programmes delivered in the work-place. All programmes provide a unique focus, ensuring learners can get the full experience out of their time with us. To help explain the difference between the programmes, we have outlined their basic principles below:

Entry to Employment (e2e)

e2e is available to 16-18 year-olds who are unready or unable to enter further education, training or employment. Both flexible and supportive, e2e helps young people make a smooth transition between school life and employment by providing them with tailored vocational tasters (Work Placement) and personal development sessions.

Apprenticeship Programmes

Available to those aged between 16+years old, Apprenticeships enable the employee to earn and learn through a combination of college and work-based training, complemented by Basic/Key Skills training as appropriate. Learners are employed by the employer directly and should receive salary, holiday hours and other benefits provided by their Contract of Employment as other employees. There are two types of apprenticeship:

Each apprenticeship is made up of the same 3 components - a National Vocational Qualification, Technical Certificate and Keyskills, which combine together to provide a framework of development for the learner.

Train to Gain programmes

Available to adults over 19 years old who are in employment delivered through training in the work-place, which allows them to continue to earn whilst applying the learning directly to their job role. These programmes are available through a wide range of industry sectors including qualifications gained in; Hospitality, Health & Social Care, ITQ, Retail, Construction and Customer Services. Government subsidies are available to pay towards some Train to Gain courses, including: Level 2 / 3 qualifications and Skills for Life.
